This pictorial history shows many of the individuals who have contributed to Organic Geochemistry over the past 40 years. The photographs were taken by the author mostly at the International Meetings and the Gordon Research Conferences. This collection of photographs is a representative, but by no means comprehensive, view looking back on the organic geochemical community. For the purpose of this poster, twelve organic geochemical catagories were established. These catagories try to sum up individual contributions in organic geochemistry in one phrase, a task that is impossible and certainly misleading. Nevertheless, the photographs are grouped as follows: Biomarkers Environment Organic Matter Coal Geomolecules Pyrolysis Crude Oil Isotopes Sediments Entrepreneurs Natural Gas Source Rocks Many people, 104 of them pictured here, have enhanced this exciting interdisciplinary science of Organic Geochemistry. Each individual has, in his or her way, contributed to the subject and helped to pioneer the research of the future.
