24th IMOG Bremen, 6-11 September 2009
The 24th IMOG, will be held in the dynamic city of Bremen. The facilities are excellent and we are all looking forward to the usual high quality Meeting. There will be great science as well as socialising!

The Pieter Schenck Award
The Pieter Schenck Award is given by the European Association of Organic Geochemists (EAOG) every second year to a scientist normally under 35 years of age who has made a major contribution in any specific area of organic geochemistry or a related field.
During the closing ceremony of the 23rd IMOG in Torquay, the 2007 Pieter Schenck Award was confered on Marcel Kuypers.
The previous awardees are Jaap Sinninghe Damsté (1993); Mark McCaffrey (1995); Kate Freeman (1997), Stefan Schouten (1999), Kliti Grice (2001) and Richard Pancost (2005).

EAOG Travel Awards to be Increased in Value
The Board of EAOG is pleased to announce that the maximum value of a Travel Award has been increased to 5,000 Euros from the present 3,500 Euros. EAOG is able to do this thanks to the generous sponsorship of the following companies:

The new travel awards will be known by the name of the sponsoring company.

If you wish to continue your Membership, please ensure you make your payment as soon as possible as delay may cause an interuption in the delivery of our Journal, Organic Geochemistry. Changes to the EAOG Board
In September 2007, the second term of two EAOG Board members (Richard Patience and Sylvie Derenne) and the first term of a third (Artur Stankiewicz) ended.
Artur Stankiewicz stood for re-election as the Board’s nominee and was duly unanimously elected by the EAOG General Assembly, held on Thursday 18th September 2007 during the 23rd IMOG in Torquay. Two additional members (Philippe Schaeffer and Lorenz Schwark) were nominated by the Board. Since no further nominations were received, both Philippe Schaeffer and Lorenz Schwark were also unanimously elected to the Board of the EAOG at the General Assembly and will act as Secretary and Awards Chairman, respectively.

23rd IMOG Torquay, 9-14 September 2007
The 23rd IMOG, was held in the English Riviera town of Torquay, situated in the beautiful south-west peninsula of England. By all accounts, the Meeting was a great success both scientifically and socially!

Keep up-to-date with the Literature!
For a while now literature references relevant to our field have been published in Organic Geochemistry and now we are making the database files available on a monthly basis. So keep yourself abreast with the literature and update your personal database regularly!

On-Line Access to Organic Geochemistry
The Board of EAOG and Elsevier are pleased to announce on-line access to full text articles in Organic Geochemistry for members of EAOG. Current, paid-up members of EAOG will be able to access papers published this year as well as those back to the 1995. To obtain access, follow the registration instructions and in a few minutes you'll be reading your favourite Journal on-line!
